As if more than a foot of snow wasn't enough, Illinois also got hit with an Earthquake very early this morning.
Around 4 A.M, people of Kane County Illinois and the surrounding area's started to feel their homes shake, and watch fixtures fall off the wall.
Per the New York Times:
"Sarah Evans, 29, of the northwest Chicago suburb of Elgin, said she was awakened at about 4 a.m. when her house started trembling.
"She then reached for her iphone and posted a message on twitter. “Seriously weird,” she wrote. “Something that felt like a minor quake just woke us up. Can anyone else in the CHI area/burbs confirm?” Soon, she said, many people were trading information about the quake through the forum. -NyTimes
We here at Indiana Grain find it fascinating that people no longer have to wait for news to air on the television, or even online for that matter. Within a matter of seconds people are communicating and conversing about real-time events.
Reports claim the quake was felt as far north as Wisconsin to as far south as Tennessee.
Doug DuPont of Belvidere Illinois stated- "It was really scary. Felt like a train was going to hit our house. This is not California, this is Northern Illinois. We are not supposed to get earthquakes.
Mr. Dupont also stated that the Earthquake left him with a 1 foot long crack in his kitchen wall.
At this point, thankfully no serious injuries or serious damage has been reported.

Haiti has had more than 70 earthquakes or aftershakes that were at least as powerful as the earthquake last night in Illinois!

I heard about the earthquake in Illinois on the radio this morning. Crazy, considering what just happened in Haiti.
