Gold Rally Changing the Face of Poker Chips

High-stakes poker players can forget about plastic chips and use real gold, silver and platinum coins. The United States Gold Bureau has unveiled a line of "High Roller" poker sets that use real American Eagle coins from the U.S. Mint instead of traditional plastic or clay poker chips.
According to John Hutmacher, president of the company that makes the sets, clients can custom-create their own sets, based on what metals they want to include and in what quantities. The sets can also include gold dice, playing cards personalized with the customer's initials and a variety of cases.
The standard set includes American Eagle coins in gold, silver and platinum. The "Billionaire Set" also has 1-kilo gold bars, for the really high rollers. There's even a "Wild West Set" that uses collectible gold and silver coins from the 1800s and early 1900s.
“Imagine tossing a handful of $5 Indian Head coins into the pot, just like Jesse James or Billy the Kid may have done,” said Hutmacher. “It really brings history alive and turns a regular poker game into a truly unique experience.”
The company sells the standard set for $375,000 but, according to Hutmacher, clients can customize things as much as they want.

This is a brilliant idea for high rollers that are always looking for a different way to flaunt their wealth. Some of these coins are very collectible and it would be pretty awesome to get that kind of that old western outlaw feeling while playing.
