According to Hoosier Ag Today, dry weather returned to the state after several weeks of severe storms and rain.
The news comes from the Indiana Field Office of USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Many fields with standing water had an opportunity to dry out. Some fields that had not been planted yet have now been planted with soybeans.
Fields were sprayed this week that were previously too wet to access. Farmers used the break in the weather to continue harvesting wheat, with some reports of vomitoxin and low test weights. Double cropped soybeans were being planted after wheat harvest. Baling of hay and straw continued throughout the week.
There were 5.3 days suitable for field work. Thirty-one percent of the corn crop has silked compared with 2 percent last year and 8 percent for the 5-year average. Corn condition is rated 62 percent good to excellent compared with 64 percent last year at this time and 65 percent last week.
The national figure of 73 percent good to excellent represents a two percent improvement from last week.
Ninety-six percent of the intended soybean acreage has emerged compared with 94 percent last year and 97 percent for the 5-year average. Twenty-three percent of the soybean acreage is blooming compared with 3 percent last year and 13 percent for the 5-year average.
Soybean condition is rated 60 percent good to excellent compared with 64 percent last year. Improving one percent from a week ago, national soybean condition is now at 67 percent.

After the way that the markets moved yesterday we can see that maybe the market is taking this weather into account. We saw crazy orders taking up corn 7 before the open and that's where it opened.
