Katie Couric Highly Critical of Meat and Poultry Production?
Posted: 02/08/10
By: tomgrisafi
Katie Couric and the CBS evening news are scheduled to air a 2-part investigative report focused on antimicrobial use in food-animal production.
A CBS production crew has filmed organic and conventional pork production systems, as well as a Pennsylvania organic turkey grower among many other facilities.
The report has many in the pork production industry concerned about what the "real" message within the story will ultimately be.
Randy Curless, the former president of the Indiana Pork Producers stated- "You really need to know that these news broadcasts are more towards sensationalism, ratings, and viewership than they are a balanced, true story. So I believe it will be a whole lot more of an editorial view than the balanced story. So watch it, and then you need to seek out what I say is the other side or the whole story by yourself.”
One of Couric's main agenda's for the report is how antibiotics go from the farm to the meat counter, and what possible adverse affects on humans is involved.
Feedback from CBS producers leads us here at Indiana Grain to believe the reports will be highly critical of livestock and poultry production.

that's what happens when you give a liberal that no one likes (and possibly doesn't like herself) a camera crew & microphone... Have a great day

The truth hurts doesn't it? It's pretty sad how the world is on the verge of becoming immune to antibiotics because we gulp them down with every hamburger and pork chop.

CBS, NBC, ABC, screw them all. Twitter and stocktwits is where you find all the good information.

There are some farms that do it right. Many now sell straight to consumers through share programs and farmers markets because they command premium retail prices. Big Ag is making us sick and it doesn't even pay farmers a living wage anymore.
