Panhandle Wheat Crop Looking Good
Posted: 07/21/10
By: tomgrisafi
Almost all the wheat produced this year in the Panhandle is in, and it looks like a banner harvest.
Ninety-seven percent of the crop has been brought in from the fields, and while the cash price still isn't as high as producers would like, it has been a great year when it comes to yield.
The Panhandle area has more than doubled the amount of wheat grown compared to last year's crop, according to the director of communications for the Texas Wheat Producers Association, Steelee Fischbacher.
"Overall the wheat crop has been very good this year in almost all regions. We basically doubled our crop from last year. Last year, we produced 60 million bushels and this year, we're over 124 million bushels."
She adds, that there are only a few crops left to bring in, and most of those have been delayed by the weather.

Well overall wheat has shown a very promising harvest and we should see record numbers this year out of wheat yields.
