When I think about my Trading career and what has influenced me most, it comes down to one important aspect.

Who I have surrounded myself with.

In sports this theory is used often. "If you want to become a better tennis player, surround yourself with players that are better than you".

My belief is this theory relates to trading in every-way. Not only do you have the advantage of learning what makes a trader great, you also have the opportunity to learn from a great traders mistakes. And lets face it, as traders, we all make mistakes.

Sometimes the only benefit to a mistake is learning from it. That being said, we have a huge benefit to learn from someone else's mistakes.

Some may feel that surrounding themselves with traders that are more experienced than themselves is intimidating. This should not be the case. Using that relationship as motivation or even creating competition can be very healthy, and only push you to want to succeed more.

On the contrary this theory can have a reverse effect. If you are golfing in the same foursome week in and week out, and constantly winning, do you notice your score getting any better? Chances are your not.

In trading it is common for one to "plateau", and find themselves living the definition of insanity.

Here at Indiana Grain we work hard to avoid this.

So you may be saying to yourself- Ok, I trade from home at my house in Minneapolis MN, how on earth can I surround myself and network with like-minded, experienced traders?

Great question!

Something we have implemented here at Indiana Grain is setting up web-conferences via either www.Skype.com and/or www.ooVoo.com. We have essentially created a network of like-minded traders spread out across the country.

On a daily basis we are trading ideas, sharing our thoughts, and collaborating during trading sessions. This has become a vital piece to our business, and something we take very seriously.
