On Thursday, Toyota officials said that they are considering “some kind of measure” on Toyota and Lexus vehicles that have engine stalling while driving issues. An official recall has yet to be announced for the 270,000 cars that would be involved, but Toyota announced that no accidents or injuries have been reported with consumer complaints.

Since September of 2009, Toyota has recalled over 7.3 million vehicles in the US for a variety of reasons; over 10 million Toyota’s have been recalled worldwide.

Eight Toyota and Lexus models would be involved in this recent recall including the Lexus LS460 and the Toyota Crown sedans, according to a Toyota spokeswoman in Tokyo. The possible recalled vehicles may have problems with the valve spring in the engine that may be causing idle trouble that may lead to engine failure, the spokeswoman said.

Thursday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that they have not received recall information from Toyota.

Last Friday, Toyota recalled 17,000 hybrid vehicles for spilling too much gasoline.

Its amazing that Toyota has not been penalized heavily enough to stop them from at least distributing these vehicles around the world. All of these recalls make me wonder how the vehicles make it pass the safety tests and if the tests are adequate for safe vehicle standards.
